Understanding Recommended Routes

Recommended is the first view you see at the Route Selection step of Quote & Book. A single shipment can return hundreds or thousands of quoted routes, so instead of asking you to scan the whole list, Recommended narrows everything down to the strongest option in each category, for each transport mode available on your shipment. It is the fastest way to see your best choices side by side before deciding.

How the Recommended view is organized

Recommended is laid out as a grid. Each row is a transport mode that is available for your shipment (for example Air Freight or Ocean Freight), and each column is a category that ranks routes by a single priority:

• Cheapest – the lowest total cost.

• Fastest – arrives soonest.

• Most Reliable – the best on-time record.

• Shortest Distance – the least distance travelled on truck.

Every cell in the grid is the single best route for that mode and category. Reading across a row compares the trade-offs within one mode; reading down a column compares the same priority across modes.

At the top of the view, a Narrowed indicator shows how many total quotes were considered and how many distinct routes were surfaced as the best (for example, "Narrowed 1208 → 5 best"). The count of best routes can be smaller than the number of cells, because one route often wins more than one category — a route that is both the cheapest and the most reliable, for example, appears in both columns.

What each card shows

Each route card in the grid summarizes the option at a glance:

• Price

• Transit time and estimated delivery date

• Origin and destination, with the carrier

• Distance travelled on truck

• A Select button to add the route to your selection

Filtering by door service

Above the grid, a Door Service toggle lets you switch the whole view between Door to Door, Door to Port, and Port to Door. Changing it re-picks the best route in every cell so that all the recommendations match the service level you need.

Opening a route's full details

Selecting a card adds that route to the selection bar at the bottom of the screen, where you can open View Details. This is the same slide-out panel used throughout Route Selection, with the route's legs, an itemized list of charges, and reliability information. You can also keep selecting routes to compare them before you continue. See Understanding Your Route for a full description of the View Details panel and the compare-and-select flow.

Seeing every option

Recommended intentionally shows only the top routes. If you want to look beyond them:

• Use See all options or the All Routes tab to browse every quoted route with full filtering and sorting. See Understanding Your Route.

• Use the Route Finder tab to build a route step by step, choosing a lane, then a carrier, then a route.

Note that some carriers may not be available for every shipment, so the routes shown reflect what could be quoted for the details you entered.
