Understanding Your Route

At the Route Selection step of Quote & Book, your shipment options are presented as a set of service quotes, each representing a different way to move the shipment based on the details provided. This article explains what those results have in common — how to read a route, review its full details, and compare options — regardless of which view you use.

At the top left corner of the screen, a map displays the shipment’s route, providing a visual overview of the journey from origin to destination.

Three ways to view your routes

The tabs at the top right of the screen switch between three views of the same underlying quotes. Each is covered in its own article:

• Recommended – the best route in each category (Cheapest, Fastest, Most Reliable, and Shortest Distance) for every available transport mode. See Understanding Recommended Routes.

• Route Finder – build a route step by step, choosing a lane, then a carrier, then a route. See Understanding the Route Finder.

Reading a route

However you view them, each route summarizes the same key facts:

• Service name

• Door service type (Door to Door, Door to Port, or Port to Door)

• Number of legs

• Price

• Estimated delivery date

• Transit time

• Expiration time

The main transport leg can be broken down further into its individual sailings or flights. Where a view offers a Show leg details toggle, turning it on expands each route to show the origin, destination, and carrier for every stage of the journey.

Viewing the details of a route

Selecting a route opens View Details, a panel that slides in from the right with a complete breakdown of that quote. The panel is organized into three sections you can expand or collapse:

• Route – every leg of the journey in order. Each leg lists its origin, destination, and carrier, and the main transport leg breaks down into its sailings or flights, showing the port or airport pairs, vessel or service name, and scheduled dates.

• Charges – an itemized list of every charge that makes up the price (for example origin handling, freight, and destination fees), followed by the total charges for the route.

• Reliability – on-time performance data for the service, when it is available.

The header of the panel repeats the key facts — service name, door service, transit time, price, and delivery date — so they stay visible while you review the breakdown. From the panel you can confirm the route or close it and keep looking.

Comparing routes

When you select a route, it is added to a selection bar at the bottom of the screen rather than moving you on immediately. From there you can open View Details, continue with that route, or select more routes to compare.

Selecting a second route opens the Compare routes panel, which places the chosen routes side by side across three sections:

• Summary – total price, transit time, delivery date, number of legs, door service, and reliability. The strongest value in a row (for example the lowest price or the shortest transit time) is flagged as best.

• Route – each leg of every route, lined up for easy comparison.

• Charges – every charge line for each route, with a dash where a charge doesn’t apply to one of them, ending in the total for each.

Choose Select Route beneath a column to pick that route.

Continuing with your route

Once the route you want is selected, choose Continue to Addresses to move on through the remaining steps of the Quote & Book flow and make your booking.
