To add a new customer, navigate to Admin > Customer Setup > Customers and click the + Add Customer button in the top-right corner of the screen. This will open the New Customer wizard, which walks you through all the required setup steps.

Step 1 – Customer Settings

Enter the basic information for the customer, including their name and any top-level configuration. This corresponds to the Profile and Settings sections you would find when managing an existing customer.

Step 2 – Location Defaults

Set the default values that will apply to all of the customer's locations. These defaults can be overridden at the individual location level later. This corresponds to the Location Defaults tab in the customer management page.

Step 3 – Accounting Defaults

Enter the default financial configuration for the customer's locations, including payment method, accounting code, booking currency, billing address, and markup percentages by service type. This corresponds to the Accounting Profile section found when managing a location.

Step 4 – Markup Defaults

Define the default markup percentages to be applied to the customer's locations across all service types (LTL, Full Truck, Courier, Air, Ocean, etc.). These can be adjusted at the location level later.

Step 5 – Operations Defaults

Set the default operational settings for the customer's locations, including TSA Shipper Status, CO2 emissions display, operations contact details, and additional notification emails. This corresponds to the Operations Profile section found when managing a location.

Step 6 – Create Location

The final step creates the customer's first location. Every customer must have at least one location in order to be serviced, as all rating, booking, and shipments are linked to a location.

This step has two sections:

Location Settings

  • Location Name – The name all users will see when booking shipments. Use a specific, easy-to-understand name such as "Head Office", "Vancouver Branch", or "South East Division".
  • Allow Booking – Controls whether users can book quotes and incur charges to this location.

Override Defaults

This section allows you to override any defaults set at the Customer level for this specific location. The available overrides are Measurement System, Sales Representative, Require Billing Reference No., Require External Broker, and Allow Volumetric Rating. Each field displays the Default Setting inherited from the customer level.

Once you are done, click Save Customer to complete the setup. Additional locations can be added to the customer after the wizard is finished.

After Completion

Once saved, the customer and their first location will be available in the Customers list. From there, you can continue to manage the customer's locations, credit, legal information, profile, and settings through the Manage link on the Customers screen. See How to Manage a Customer
